Hi, I’m Aggie—founder of Confident Youth Hub, lifelong learner, and someone who once used to dread the idea of speaking in front of others. I wasn’t always comfortable with public speaking. In fact, it used to terrify me.
Like many people, I grew up thinking that public speaking was something only “natural-born speakers” could do. Add to that the fact that English is not my first language, and the idea of standing in front of a group and delivering a message felt completely out of reach. I often knew what I wanted to say—but getting the words out with clarity and confidence was a different story.
Then I Found Toastmasters
Toastmasters changed everything. If you’re not familiar with it, Toastmasters is a global organization that helps people develop public speaking and leadership skills in a friendly, supportive environment. I joined over a decade ago, and I’ve never looked back.
What I’ve learned over the years is that public speaking is not about being perfect. It’s not about having the fanciest words or the smoothest delivery. It’s about connection. It’s about being able to share your thoughts, your ideas, and your perspective in a way that others can hear and feel.
For me, Toastmasters wasn’t just about learning how to give speeches. It helped me grow in every area of my life—personally and professionally. I became more confident in meetings. I could express my opinions clearly. I started to enjoy conversations that once made me nervous.
And most importantly, I stopped being afraid of my own voice.
Why Teach Public Speaking to Kids?
As adults, many of us spend years unlearning fear and building confidence we wish we had started developing earlier. That’s why I’m passionate about helping kids and teens build these skills early. Public speaking doesn’t just help you speak in front of a room—it helps you speak up for yourself. It helps you think clearly, listen better, and communicate with purpose.
When young people learn to express themselves, something magical happens: their confidence grows. They start to trust their voice. They become better listeners, stronger leaders, and more empathetic friends. And those are skills they’ll carry for life.
Final Thoughts
I created Confident Youth Hub because I saw how much public speaking helped me grow—and I believe every young person deserves that same opportunity. Whether your child is naturally outgoing or more reserved, there’s a place for them to thrive, find their voice, and build confidence from the inside out.
Public speaking changed my life. I truly believe it can change theirs, too.
